Do you own a small business, with a limited budget, and don’t know where to start marketing online? You have come to the right place.
I know how it feels to be in your shoes!
My husband and I promoted kitchen knives and cutlery on one of our websites. It was a drop ship store – we did’t actually own or store any of the products – what we did is promote high quality kitchen items and our customers placed their orders with us. We were our customers only point of contact.
After much research and wasting money on a seminar by Worldwide Brands Inc., we finally found and were accepted by a reputable wholesaler. I then spent many days (weeks) building a website from scratch (all 100+ pages) with shopping links, created social media pages, obtained a toll free number, ordered giveaway items a.s.o. After a few months we finally made our first few small sales.
This all took place a few years ago and the site is now an informational blog with affiliate links. We offered the same items (knives, knife blocks, etc.) that a million other retailers, big name stores and of course whole sale companies offered for pretty much the same price. If I knew then, what I know now, it could have saved us a ton of money, time and aggravation.
For many years now I have been creating websites and online marketing strategies for small businesses locally and across the country.
Being a small business owner myself now, not just a hired employee, has given me a whole new appreciation of how hard it really is to make any money online. On this website I will share my years of wisdom, if you will, and newly found ways to help market your own small business online.
Internet Marketing Strategies, Ideas and Help for Small Businesses
- Keep Your Website Fresh and Up To Date
I can’t stress this enough, it is so important to have up to date information for your visitors. Take the time to research your keywords and make updates as the search engine algorithms change. Having high quality content is very important and never goes out of style. Keep your content relevant and search engines will reward you for making it enjoyable for your visitors.
- Find ways to interact with your Customers
Give your customers a reason to interact with you and to share your content to their friends and family on social media sites. May it be via how to videos, tip and tricks of the trade, fun images or helpful business related articles. It’s important to build a trusting and rewarding relationship
- Spend your Marketing Money wisely
Small business owners like us can’t possibly compete with the large, unlimited marketing budget super stores. Don’t even bother! Instead focus on your target area, keep your #1 customer in mind and use social media networking sites to speak directly to your clients. It is also wise to improve your website’s natural search engine optimization, which includes relevant page title tags, header sections, image tags, etc, you can make your marketing dollars stretch quite a bit.
These are just a few of the things you can do very easily and without a big budget.
In the following days, weeks and months I will write many more articles on how to help small businesses succeed online.
